ReadyZoneHQ supported FEMA Region 1 with developing the Region 1 Earthquake Incident Annex (R1 EQIA) to enhance preparedness and response capabilities for seismic events in New England.
The project involved forming and maintaining a collaborative planning team and a senior leadership steering committee, aligning with the whole community approach and focusing on critical partnerships across local, state, tribal, federal, and private sectors. The team conducted extensive research and analysis to understand the situation, which included identifying existing authorities, assessing potential impacts on populations, and performing capacity gap analyses related to seismic incidents. They developed key planning factors and considerations, along with an Earthquake Incident Reference Guide and training tools to improve understanding of earthquake risks and consequences.
The team drafted, reviewed, and finalized the R1 EQ plan, creating a suite of training, socialization, and execution tools aligned with FEMA’s guidelines and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. The project team provided essential documentation and support for interagency and intra-agency meetings and workshops.
